Genealogy is often quite boring because the focus is often; “I am here, because of these people….”. THAT is quite an uninspiring proposition.
Genealogy is only interesting when one tries to understand the ‘story’ of a person or of a sequence of events.
It becomes thrilling when one tries to digest their actual experience.
If one is lucky enough to find enough information and documents that allows a person to begin to understand a chain of events – or even to use their imagination to create a feasible chain of events (for an amateur genealogist, I think this is acceptable) – then our ancestry can actually be something spectacular.
In some cases, as in “THE TWO FAMILIES OF THE SALEM WITCH HANGINGS”… it can be a chain of events that go spectacularly wrong.
